I celebrate the shared desire to find the missing piece. My characters are recognizable, varied and determined in spirit. I am driven by the belief that most human beings are striving to do the “right thing”, and it is in each individual’s journey to this goal that I find the tragedy and comedy that inspires my stories.
I’ve written several full-length plays, musicals, screenplays, short stories, poems, essays and short plays. I’ve been lucky enough to work with wonderful directors and theater companies. My work has been published by Smith & Kraus in their Best Plays By Women series, and on McSweeney’s and Purple Clover. My short screenplay “Ladies Room LA” was made into a film and won many Best Comedy awards.
I have worked with various theaters in NYC and beyond, including Playwright’s Horizons, Rattlestick, Ars Nova, Cherry Lane, Ensemble Studio Theater, The Flock Theater Company, Hudson Stage, True North, Cape Cod Theater Project, Mamapalooza, Purchase College Children’s Theater, and our local children’s theater.
Right now I am writing a memoir called “Riding a Crocodile, Adventures with My Father, Mother, Sister Annie and Another”, which explores the interwoven lives and departures of four of my loved ones and also my fear of getting eaten by a crocodile. It’s a history-biography-fantasy of scenes remembered and imagined.
I live with my family in the Hudson River Valley, New York. I lead writing workshops. I invite you to check out my website journal, join me on facebook, twitter, youtube…
